Couple of points: -

1. It's stated that this page was nominated as a candidate for deletion almost 8 years ago, due to the subject being not notable enough to warrant his own page. However the deletion discussion archive page describes him as an "artist and academic" - is this not a case of mistaken identity…? This Tim Brennan is lead guitarist, and co-vocalist, for the Boston Celtic punk outfit Dropkick Murphys, a band you'd have to admit haven't exactly been unsuccessful. If being a longstanding, and prominent, member of an internationally acclaimed band doesn't warrant you your own entry, then I have to ask wtf does…?!

2. If his entry IS to remain (and, as it's still standing after almost 8 years, then I'll assume that to be the case), then WHY has nobody thought to check his dates…?! It was last modified 2 months ago so, unless that editor inserted the erroneous info, I don't understand WHY it wasn't flagged up at the time. His year of birth is given as 1983, but his years active are given as commencing in 1996. Now, maths has never really been my forte, but even *I* can subtract 83 from 96 and arrive at 13, which means that either a) his year of birth is incorrect b) his activity dates are incorrect - or c) BOTH are incorrect. I'm trying to cast my mind back to see if I can recall exactly WHEN he joined, but I seem to be developing some kind of premature-onset senility, and the article itself is somewhat ambiguous, and rather unclear (perhaps, if he's to remain, someone with better editing skills than I could clarify it a little…).

I know folk DO join/start bands stupidly young - just look at Babymetal (what were they when they formed/were put together - The girls are just the pretty faces, they're the Japanese female One Direction, really - 10/11…?) but they're Japanese and, as such, don't count as weird seems to be the status quo in Japan.

But, as to our friend here, somebody needs to check his dates. I'd do it myself, but I'm infamous for fucking up articles to the point where now I'm too scared to perform minor - let alone major - surgery.

Thank you! SJ out. Margo (talk) 11:02, 5 September 2014 (UTC)Reply
