Alright guys someone needs to change this. Its stupid that they list the median age and all that crap WHEN THERE ARE ONLY 5 PEOPLE LIVING IN THE TOWN! — Preceding unsigned comment added by ShadowHawk555 (talkcontribs) 23:54, 9 March 2015 (UTC)Reply

This place is a Ghost town

edit

To the aspiring IP editor Thurmond is a Ghost town. 5 people, most do not live there full time for the year. It used to be a major hub/city. It is not now, it is utterly vacant with the buildings that do stand serving as part of a park. IF YOUR HOME is a park. hint, you are on exhibition, its a ghost town.....Yes there is a cardinal Amtrak station in Thurmond. People exit the train to take pics of.....THE GHOST TOWN.....And all the news agencies that come to Thurmond and do documentaries, wanna know what they call it? Thats right, a Ghost TownCoal town guy (talk) 19:37, 28 June 2018 (UTC)Reply

I don't see Thurmond as a ghost town. To me, a ghost town has been completely abandoned or may not even exist in any physical form anymore. That's basically what Wikipedia's ghost town article defines it as as well. Thurmond is minimally populated, but it does have privately owned, occupied homes and a functioning town government. To me, it's a tiny town, not a ghost town. Bitmapped (talk) 18:02, 29 June 2018 (UTC)Reply
I see what you mean. AND I do not want to in any way sound like I am preaching the gospel or owning anything. The town really has no purpose at this point besides the rail station which is a left over from it being a coal town. It is tiny, thats a fact. Almost every travel brochure calls it a ghost town including CBS NEWS which did a ghost town thing on it about a decade ago.I also had to revert some other edits which may have jaded my view and for that I do apologizeCoal town guy (talk) 13:15, 2 July 2018 (UTC)Reply
