Incorrect picture or not? edit

A user in Thai Wikipedia says it is Thunbergia grandiflora because of its leaf shape.

A user in Thai Wikipedia says about the picture in this article, File:Thunbergia_laurifolia3.jpg, is Thunbergia grandiflora instead of Thunbergia laurifolia due to its leaves.

Agree that this identification is incorrect. There are some other images in Commons that show leaves that don't fit as clearly into laurel-shaped or angular categories. It's difficult because apparently both species vary a lot in characteristics such as flower colour and hairiness. I've found only informal suggestions that the two species hybridize, and didn't find any statements in botanical sources that they should be considered to be a single species. This paper says that T. coccinea and T. grandiflora are more closely related to each other than to T. laurifolia, thus supporting keeping them as separate species: Borg, A.J.; McDade, L.A. (2008). For the record, the picture referred to (File:Thunbergia_laurifolia3.jpg), which is no longer in this article, has now had its name changed at commons to File:Thunbergia_grandiflora3.jpg.--Melburnian (talk) 02:24, 4 April 2014 (UTC)Reply
