Talk:Throne of England

Purpose edit

The oblique reason I created this article in lieu of a redirect page was so that there would be a corollary non-Asian "See also" link at the bottom of the article about Japan's Chrysanthemum Throne. This subject seems to generates minor, intermittent controversies -- see Talk:Chrysanthemum Throne#Off-topic. It appears that there are perennially unresolved questions about what needs to be considered "off-topic"?

I hoped that creating this corollary article in hopes that it might become a constructive step towards mitigating controversy. Tenmei 18:12, 12 February 2009 --Tenmei (talk) 16:19, 15 June 2009 (UTC)Reply

The actual throne itself? edit

I wanted to know which piece of furniture was officially the throne of the UK. Is there more than one? When the sovereign is seated, does that piece of furniture become the throne? There are throne rooms in many palaces. Is the sovereign the only person permitted to sit in any ov the thrones in those rooms, making them all officially "the throne"? These are simple questions I hoped to learn about from this article, but it seems mostly about sovereignty in the UK, not about the actual chair of the sovereign. I want to know about the chair.
