Great Philippine Hit on YouTube edit

I am Judge Florentino V. Floro. I researched on this and found that today, more than 5 million views made the Bryon Garcia Youtube Cebu Inmates a hit.

In Reuters Video, it says that;

"Aug. 1 - Michael Jackson may not know it but he's helping rehabilitate inmates at jail in the Philippines.

Every morning hundreds of identically dressed men and woman gyrate in synch to tunes like "Thriller ." The dance routine is the brainchild of Byron Garcia, who oversees the prison in Cebu and and has taken a novel approach to reforming offenders."

I hope that Wiki members will expand and update this famous PRIDE of Cebu City, South Philippines.

I edited the article in view of my mistake of copying most of the words of the copyrighted article. Hoping that the admin would check it instead of my writing another one.

Going Political edit

Another successful upload dance twist to Gloria, by the inmates. On March 29, 2008, prison inmates held a dance presentation to protest statements of Philippine National Broadband Network controversy's Jun Lozada and Leah Navarro (Black and White Movement) against the Archdiocese of Cebu and Cardinal Ricardo Vidal as the “Archdiocese of Malacañang,” and “congressman in a cassock,” respectively.[1][2][3][4] The new YouTube video, posted by Byron Garcia on April 2, 2008, shows 1,600 orange-jumpsuited inmates dancing to Laura Branigan's "Gloria."[5] It struck gold in just 2 days: Views: 370,858. - --Florentino floro (talk) 08:36, 5 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Does this have any relationship to the Thriller video which is the subject of this article? It would seem not to. maxsch (talk) 21:00, 7 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Starting April, 2008, Cebu provincial inmates' live dances attracted many visitors. After the 2 hour monthly program (last Saturday), visitors can have their pictures taken with the prisoners and buy souvenir prison shirts.[1] --Florentino floro (talk) 05:17, 28 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Rename? edit

Considering how many videos they have done now, should this article be renamed to something more inclusive of the phenomenon, like "Prison Dancers (viral video)" or Cebu prison dancers? -- AnmaFinotera (talk · contribs) 08:17, 16 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

File:Cebu Thriller.jpg does not meet fair use criteria edit

Why is this image in the article? It doesn't really show anything that the other doesn't, and doesn't contribute to the reader's understanding of the subject. It's not commented on within the article. It should be removed and tagged {{di-orphaned fair use}}. rʨanaɢ talk/contribs 21:27, 12 June 2009 (UTC)Reply

Done. Cheers. :) Pyrrhus16 21:42, 12 June 2009 (UTC)Reply

Great Idea edit

This is a great idea. It gives the prisoners a little something to live for. Whether a prisoner has a change of heart or not, prisons even in American are hopeless places.
