I wonder what is the source that gives Mendes as Thrasyllus' city of origin/residence? The Oxford Classical Dictionary gives Alexandria.Isokrates 14:13, 15 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

It is possible he was born in Mendes and moved to Alexandria.Das Baz 16:13, 13 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

It is not at all clear that Tiberius Claudius Thrasyllus (d. 36 CE) is the same person as Thrasyllus of Mendes (which was a town in the Nile Delta), first of all. Secondly, there is no primary source which originates this Thrasyllus mentioned in Tacitus and Suetonius, in Alexandria--even if the Oxford Classical Dictionary says it. The astrologer may not have been Egyptian at all. This sort of confusion should be straightened out in the article, and I guess I'll try. NaySay (talk) 16:43, 30 May 2009 (UTC)Reply
