Where is the pictures, and how can you compare a stage victory in TdF and the Vuelta and a classic with a norwegian championship?!?!?!?? Are you stupid or something?!?! Lillebo88

Firstly, please read WP:NPA and WP:AGF. It is subjective whether National championships should count towards Major victories, and I personally think it depends on the rider. For a rider who has limited palmares such as Hushovd (namely six Grand Tour stages, 2 points competitions from Grand Tours and one one-day ProTour victory, which was not a monument but a semi-classic), then I don't see what harm it is to add them. If you disagree, whether in just this particular case or more generally, then try to build consensus. As it is, your opinion is no better than mine! With regards the picture, yes I did accidentally edit it out and it is now back in. Don't hesitate to Be Bold and put something right if you see something gone awry - but always remember to use edit summaries. Lastly, please follow WP:SIG in signing your posts. HOOS-hovd?

I thought it was HOO-shovd. Certainly HUSH (like push)-ovd is overly Anglicized, but does the "sh" sound not occur in Norwegian like it does in English? Nosleep ^{break my slumber} 10:42, 11 August 2009 (UTC)

I am sure someone at WP:RD/L could come up with a more detailed answer, but there's definitely no "sh"-sound like in English "hush", and HOOS-hovd is a better approximation than HOO-shovd. Regards, decltype (talk) 10:46, 11 August 2009 (UTC)

I'm Norwegian, and I can confirm that we have a "sh"-sound, but we write "sj" instead. Like in dusj which means a shower. But back to the point here, Hushovd is made up of two syllables: "Hus" which means a house, and "hovd" which I don't actually know what means... Therefore you don't have the "sh"-sound, the second "h" sounds absent when pronounced anyway. So a better way to write the pronunciation for an Englishman to relate to it, would be: "Who's–hovd"... lil2mas (talk) 19:01, 11 August 2009 (UTC)

A "hovd" is a rock or a small mountain-top. It originates from the word "hofuð" which means "head". Indeed, the Norwegian word for head, "hode" is similar, and in Norwegian Nynorsk even more so ("hovud").
