I have been researching the history of anemometers and have found a page which should be visited... http://inventors.about.com/library/inventors/blweather.htm

On this web page it is claimed that Robinson only invented the hemispherical cup anemometer, but the instrument was actually invented by Leon Battista Alberti in 1450!

Thought this might be helpful in trying to maintain accuracy!

The sources, and the article, mention him as Thomas Romney Robinson. Where does the John in the title come from? If noone can find a ref that says that that was his name, I suggest the article be moved to Thomas Romney Robinson. Quasihuman (talk) 20:38, 29 July 2010 (UTC)Reply
