Rev. Shackley's school edit

"Rev. Shackley's school" seems to have been Archbishop Holgate's. Although Shackley was vicar of All Saints, Micklegate, the school was in Ogleforth.

William Gray edit

Bothered now about who he was. The DNB article says "William Gray FRS", and the ODNB follows that. Can't identify that person, though. The ODNB article on William Gray 1751–1845 places him as a prominent lawyer in York. But he probably died too early. There was a son of the same name [1] who seems quite likely, given that Samuel Smiles says William Gray, solicitor, was buying a telescope in 1853 [2].
