Is this little more than the Encyclopedia Britannica entry about Thomas Carew? Surely, there must be some contemporary Carew scholars, readers, and devotees who could add to and improve this article. I found it curious that there are multiple assertions made in the article, but the only reference is EB. It is also interesting to note how this article violates NPOV in many instances (e. g. "[Donne] exercised a powerful if not entirely healthy influence over the genius of Carew." How so? According to whom?). I came to this article after a renewed interest in exploring the Metaphysical poets. In a number of Wikipedia articles, however, Carew is listed as a Metaphysical poet (see Wikipedia: [poets]). However, in this article, he is associated only with the [poets]. I understand that the Cavalier poets are often associated with the Metaphysical poets (secular/religious), but some mention of this tension and how Carew's poems have straddle this division, for instance, would be useful.

I make these observations only to suggest that this article would be vastly improved if some 21st C. scholars and readers of Carew were to devote some time to its improvement. Crumbit (talk) 14:17, 20 May 2011 (UTC)Reply
