REFERENCES:: Are there any authorative texts on this battle? It is difficult to see, from the article's account, exactly how so many people anded up dead. That is, the specifics do not seem to add up to the overall immensity of the battle. I do not mean to doubt the figures, but do suggest a more detailed account is needed to reflect the magnitude of the incident. In particular, some reference to, and comparison of, various academic texts upon the subject would seem to be appropriate. Name?

The city was called "Jiangning" from the Qing Empire and the Heavenly capitial by the Taipings, where is the name Battle of Nanking coming from?--Skyfiler (talk) 20:33, 25 December 2011 (UTC)

It seems that the predominance of modern sources use "Nanjing" and not "Nanking" or "Jiangning" for this battle, so I will move it to that. SilverStar54 (talk) 18:14, 2 May 2023 (UTC)
