POV

edit

I think this article is way too opinionated, and the last sentence is probably unnecessary editorializing. I'm thinking about going through and reworking it, opinions? A picture would be swell too, haven't mastered the formating of em yet...--Jk5004 03:09, 28 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

Where do you buy new molds?

edit

I got one at a flea market. Any idea where to get new molds? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.134.245.157 (talk) 07:58, 31 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

If You are Lucky, Retail Stores in Your area, such as Toys "R" Us or Target, will carry some of the New "Jakks Pacific" Mold Sets. They should also have refill bottles of "Plasti-Goop". For more classic Molds, such as the '90s ToyMax stuff, or the REALLY classic Mattel Molds from the '60s, check out on-line sellers on sites like eBay, searching under "Creepy Crawlers" or "Thingmaker". Good Luck! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 206.58.228.209 (talk) 21:28, 1 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

Creepy crawlers came from a mattel toy named the vac u form which came out in 1963 It was a toy that made toys from plastic sheets and would use a vacume to mold the plastic around a given mold after it was heated up ,then you could trim the edges and paint it and add wheels or what ever other parts needed to complete your own toy car ,or plane ,or hundreds of other things. In late 63 mattel introduced the VAC U MAKER Which was 2 sets in 1 It had the vacuform and the Thingmaker set. Hence the name VAC U MAMER ,It had 10 metal creepy crawlers molds and a large amount of plastic molds for the vacuforms ,There was an extremly rare number 10 mold with this set that was combined with a plastic vacuform fold that would make a turtle with a plastic shell and a beetle. Then in 1964 the first creepy crawlers thingmaker was released. It was such a success that many more sets followed ,up untill 1970 with the last true thingmaker set being the Peanuts Snoopy Cartoon Super Maker set .This was the last set to come with the THINGMAKER oven and the original PLASTIGOOP . Mattel found out there was a MOLD problem with the goop and had to stop.My name is Greg Hemmer and I have collected Mattel Thingmaker toys for 15 + years .This is a very shortened brief history of the thingmaker.I learned all this through collecting and toy catalogs .This is only the tip of the iceburg there is a whole lot more to know about mattel toys Thingmaker line of toys . —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.61.208.106 (talk) 13:39, 5 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

-I remember the theme song from a creepy crawlers commercial from the early 90s I think. Yet I read here that creepy crawlers were popular from the 60-70s. Is that right?

My son received a new Creepy Crawler Bug Maker for Christmas in December 2006, so apparently these units are being sold again. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.100.157.244 (talk) 19:04, 6 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

ToyMax =? Jakks Pacific

edit

Apparently, Jakks Pacific might have control of ToyMax's intellectual property, judging from looking up the WHOIS records on toymax.com [1]. Can anyone confirm this? --Geopgeop (T) 02:25, 3 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Request for move

edit

I suggest we rename this article to "Mattel Thingmaker". That is the name of the toy, Creepy Crawlers was just one of the sets that came with the Thingmaker. TheDoDahMan (talk) 13:20, 20 May 2019 (UTC)Reply

Requested move 20 May 2019

edit
The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review after discussing it on the closer's talk page. No further edits should be made to this section.

Moved to Thingmaker. See general agreement below that this article's name should be changed; however, little agreement on what the new title should be. Looking through the categories, we find that manufacturer names such as "Mattel" are used only when they are necessary to qualify an ambiguous term, and "Thingmaker" does not appear to be ambiguous. As noted in the guide, "while consensus has rejected the former title [...], there is no consensus for the title actually chosen. If anyone objects to the closer's choice, they may make another move request immediately, hopefully to its final resting place." Kudos to editors for your input, and Happy Publishing!
