Thinds belong to Kamboj caste.

Names

This article is being converted into a "surname list". Please beware of BLP violations etc when dealing with names that are sometimes associated by the narrow-minded with a single caste or religion. For example, is Helen Reddy likely to be a Reddy? We do not associate castes with living people unless they have self-identified, and the same applies to religious beliefs. • Pages of this sort are common on Wikipedia - see Davidson (name), for example. When detailing such names, it is expected that there will be details of their regional and cultural origins. Sitush now seems to be edit-warring to prevent improvement of this sort. This seems especially improper when he is still maintaining his attempt to delete the page. Andrew D. • Details, yes, but not inferences of absolute statement. I'm not edit warring but rather applying WP:BLP. I suggest that you read it, learn about the social structures of India and then return. Since you have personalised this I will add that I have agreed that this can be turned into a "surname"/"last name" list in the very discussion that you link. Dhanju Surname

thind clan origin

most of thind are kamboj only a few belong to jatt and saini.

So let me inform u sir that THIND is one of largest kamboj clan . In jatt and sainis they found only in a few villages in Ludhiana nd nawasher . But in Amritsar ,patiala,jalandhar,ferozpur (100's of villages)all thind are kamboj . Among jats they are found in Sikhs only but among kamboj they are Hindu and Muslim as well. More over Thinds are also present in arain community (considered to be Muslims converted Kamboj ). I hope its enough to explain kamboj origin of all thinds. Jatt is a occupational caste and that's how all occupational castes were formed ie by joining same occupation by peoples of different tribes. A lot of other clan names overlap among jatt and other tribes so please before posting missleading information have some knowledge of history . Removal of Sources

Pinging @Sitush, I read your message and the guidelines. So it seems that Kumar Suresh Singh and his work in the Archaeological Survey of India is problematic and against Wikipedia standards. But can you explain why you're removing other sources? i.e. the work by Denzil Ibbetson, Horace Arthur Rose and Karen Pearce? Those sources should stay up imo and they still uphold everything in the previous edit without the Archaeological Survey source. DaManBarbuz (talk) 14:30, 6 March 2023 (UTC)

@DaManBarbuz Hi, it should say at User:Sitush/CasteSources. If it doesn't, I'll have to dig out the correct list of links etc in my userspace. Put simply, consensus for the last decade or more has been that British Raj era sources are unreliable for anything related to caste. - Sitush (talk) 14:59, 6 March 2023 (UTC)
