What is the difference between thermoforming and vacuum forming?

edit

thermoforming is not only the process hereby prescribed, and mostly referred to as vacuum forming. Thermoforming is in fact a group name of "forming by means of heating". It also includes hot line bending, ...

I just wanted to mention that I have to write a 750 word report on the vacuum forming machine.... If I find anything good I'll mention it here. I am a lemon 01:50, 26 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

I agree; the process described in the article is really vacuum forming. Looks like needless duplication, and a merge might be in order, unless thermoforming includes different processes (although I can't imagine what would replace a vacuum for forcing the plastic against the mold.) This isn't another instance of American versus British English usage, is it? JustinTime55 (talk) 20:27, 25 March 2013 (UTC)Reply

William K. McConnell

A link to the most influential educator in the thermoforming industry is not random. Is there a better place to put it than here? Proepro (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 16:26, 10 June 2010 (UTC).Reply

Calling him the "most influential educator in the thermoforming industry" is quite a stretch and unreferenced. According to his article he's a consultant, so his inclusion here seems a lot like an advert for his services. Also, when I deleted the link it was a red link, which is why I called it random. How is it an advert for his services when he is dead? Where is a better place for it? If McConnell is not the "most influential educator in the thermoforming industry" than who is? Proepro (talk) 18:36, 10 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

Twin Sheet Thermoforming

edit

I recently came across Twin Sheet Thermoforming as a type of thermoforming. Can we add a section for Types of Thermoforming similar to the Molding (Process) page. There is currently no Twin Sheet Thermoforming Wiki page to describe it. Eracer55 (talk) 13:26, 29 March 2023 (UTC)Reply
