Citations

The citation for Sun Tzu & Machiavelli seem insufficient. The only thing the linked citation says in relation is "The same principle is echoed in the writings of Machiavelli and Sun Tzu." which is literally the same thing that is said in the article. If this is going to be cited as accurate then the two authors should actually have their work cited where these statements occur. An example of this would be “Attack is the secret of defense; defense is the planning of an attack.” -Sun Tzu, Art of War. I also believe this is why Machiavelli is being referred as to having said such. TiffyWiki (talk) 17:35, 10 January 2018 (UTC)

Invasion

The article gave me the impression that the consensus among military strategists is that initiating an invasion is a better option than resisting an invasion on one's own soil. Is my impression valid? 213.109.230.96 (talk) 22:29, 4 May 2014 (UTC)

I'd say that's a fairly valid interpretation, though I'd disrecommend assuming it's a universally-applied sort of consensus. In military strategy it's more just the idea that if military interaction is the best option, there are a lot of reasons to have it happen elsewhere than on the homefront, e.g. higher public morale, less risk of heavy infrastructural damage, less casualties, etc.. Basketball

Foxed

As written, the page seems to focus on strategic & grand strategic issues, but Rommel was a strong advocate for tactical aggressiveness, even in defense.
