@Bearcat: I'm certainly a fan of the "use English" policy in general, but I don't believe that this film was ever localized into English or other languages. "The Woman in Red Boots" is just a literal translation of the French, but it's unofficial. https://en.unifrance.org/movie/787/the-woman-with-red-boots# uses it but it's the sole English-language source, so I'm not sure that really counts for a "common name" argument. I'd personally rather "play it safe" and keep it at the indisputably true French title, but maybe you've found some other English sources that use the translated title? Also, while we're talking, the sole source we have uses "The Woman With Red Boots" rather than "The Woman in Red Boots." Where are you getting "in" from? SnowFire (talk) 17:02, 27 September 2022 (UTC)Reply
It's "The Woman in Red Boots" on IMDb, Film Art Gallery, Kinorium, Radio Times, Video Detective, the director's obituary in the "Obituaries in the Performing Arts" book series and the Bright Lights Film Journal. And while I'll grant that those aren't all ideal sources, and I certainly wouldn't rely on any of them in isolation for a title that wasn't replicated anywhere else but there, they certainly demonstrate that the idea that the film has any English title at all isn't limited to a single source. IMDb is worthless (user-submitted, have begged them to correct hoaxes / made-up names in the past to no effect) and a bunch of those earlier sites are either explicitly mirroring IMDb or have a 99% chance of being someone scraping IMDb's catalog. That said, https://brightlightsfilm.com/chasing-windmills-talking-with-juan-luis-bunuel-about-welles-and-don-quixote/#.YzMuoHbMKUl looks like a good source (that I would potentially rely on isolation), so fair enough that that one works.
