Talk:The Wellington Academy

Latest comment: 7 years ago by InternetArchiveBot in topic External links modified

This is a factual account of a new school, opening in Sept 09. The article does not express views on the subject and there is no conflict of interest.

The conflict of interest tag is for informational purposes. It is to let others know that someone who has created or significantly contributed to an entry has a conflict of interest with the subject but the contents of the entry may not necessarily be a problem. Since it is clear by your username that you are more than tangentially associated with the subject of the entry, the tag is appropriate under the circumstances. I hope this answers and concerns you may have. Please feel free to ask if you have questions. Thank you. Wperdue (talk) 20:20, 11 June 2009 (UTC)wperdueReply

Thanks for your reply - I still feel the tag is unfair since there is nothing other than factual information about the new school in the article. I have been careful not to include any judgements or hype about the school. I used to edit my last school's wikipedia page and never had any issue with conflict of interest tags. Could I refer you to Dorothy Stringer High School, another Brighton school, whose Wikipedia page is an extensive marketing exercise.

The tag doesn't mean that there is problem with the entry. It simply means that the author or major contributor is affiliated with the subject. Nothing more, nothing less. It lets readers know that there may be a problem with objectivity, not that there is one. Clearly, you are associated with this entry so that is why the tag is there. I wouldn't worry too much about it as that is the only problem tag here. One section you might want to read is other stuff exists. This is something to avoid when arguing your point. If you feel the other entry has problems, by all means tag it appropriately or be bold and make the changes you think are necessary. If you need help doing so, I will be happy to answer any questions. Wperdue (talk) 20:02, 8 September 2009 (UTC)Reply
