Owner? Controlling owner?

@Vjmlhds: Thanks for your edits to the roles of the various principals in the company. But I'm not sure they are accurate. We don't really know who "owns" The Trump Organization; there are some indications that Trump personally owns 100% of it. For instance, all of its hundreds of sub-units are reported on his personal tax return. And we don't have any idea what the structure of the new "trust" is going to be - who will have what title. Maybe we should just list the three as "trustee"? Maybe we should delete the other EVPs? I'm really not sure how we should handle this. --MelanieN (talk) 20:02, 11 January 2017 (UTC)

MelanieN A controlling owner is someone who runs the day to day business of a company. For example, the Cleveland Indians are owned by Larry Dolan, but his son Paul Dolan is the controlling owner - meaning he is the one who actually pilots the ship. Same situation here...Pres-elect Trump owns the company, but Don Jr and Eric will control the trust that runs it - making them in essence controlling owners. They may come up with fancy-schmancy titles, but the real nuts and bolts of it is that the company is still Don Sr's baby, but he's letting the kids drive it while he is at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. Vjmlhds (talk) 20:08, 11 January 2017 (UTC)
But can you be a "controlling owner" if you don't actually own any of it? --MelanieN (talk) 20:11, 11 January 2017 (UTC)
MelanieN I think we're getting too caught up in semantics. At the end of the day, Big Don owns it, and Little Don (& Eric) are gonna run it...whatever "official titles" they get is really just window dressing. Vjmlhds (talk) 21:28, 11 January 2017 (UTC)
I see you changed it to "trust manager". Thanks! That seems clear enough and we might even keep it after the Official Titles come along (if they ever do..) --MelanieN (talk) 21:37, 11 January 2017 (UTC)
MelanieN Yeah...trust manager sounds more to the point. But the basic idea is the same. Vjmlhds (talk) 21:52, 11 January 2017 (UTC)

Who's in charge?

Have Donald Jr & Eric taken over as co-Presidents of the company? If so, when have they taken over. GoodDay (talk) 23:35, 11 January 2017 (UTC)

GoodDay At today's press conference, Pres-elect Trump (and his lawyer) stated that Don Jr, Eric, and another executive would manage the company under a trust...essentially those three gentlemen now have the keys and will be the decision makers while "The Donald" is in the White House. Whatever titles they might have don't really matter. At the end of the day they are Trust Managers. Vjmlhds (talk) 02:50, 12 January 2017 (UTC)

The Trump organization has hundreds of subsidiaries such as hotels, golf courses, wineries. Some of these have Donald Jr. as president. The others have Eric as president. Before Donald Sr. resigned, Donald Sr. was the president of each of these subsidiaries.

Weasel words

There are quite a few weasel words inhere Victor Grigas (talk) 11:11, 6 December 2015 (UTC)

More than a few, this entire article needs a rewrite to bring it into to line with the NPOV guidelines for Wikipedia. But this topic is so radioactive that I am not going to touch it. Washuchan73 (talk) 05:43, 11 February 2017 (UTC)

the Trump organization never belonged to one person

Donald Trump held the position of president from 1971 to 2017, but he was never its owner the way he owned the Miss Universe pageant. The Trump organization is a family business so it is owned by the entire Trump family even when he was serving as president.
