Second title

edit

Depending on the country of release, the title is also The Trouble with Islam Today, which is the title used on the author's own site [1], also verifiable on Amazon [2]. This easy-to-check and documented information was strangely suppressed twice:

As well as the quote:

That doesn't mean I refuse to be a Muslim, it simply means I refuse to join an army of automatons in the name of Allah.

The result of both suppression was a more inflamatory article, since both the preferred title and the quote display a relativized critic against ONE, CURRENT islam, whereas their suppression portrays an absolute critic against ANY AND ALL islam. I'm putting them back.

Proposed merger

edit

This is a no-brainer, people! ... obviously the same book, and no reason for two articles ... decide which title to use per WP:MOS, and redirect the other one. —72.75.85.159 (talk · contribs) 13:27, 6 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Qualifiers--> Section

edit

This section is a wreck. Poor grammar, no formatting.

Linda Belanger

edit

I've removed the section on Linda Belanger. Google reveals only a few blogs where she is cited, which are not WP:RS; and a short opinion piece in "The politics of anti-Semitism," a small anarchist press. Google news reveals zero hits. Her views on Irshad Manji, whatever they may be, do not confer encyclopedic notability on her. Shawn in Montreal (talk) 22:15, 3 October 2009 (UTC)Reply

Cover design

edit

Whoever designed that cover is a freaking genius. 12.200.24.18 (talk) 14:10, 20 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

Revert request

edit

I don't want to take it upon myself to undo this edit, but it does not seem helpful. this edit here

It contains original, sweeping praise of the work ("incredible response") as well as the author ("renowed[sic] Muslim scholar") and several language errors. There is no source for the book (though it does exist). A mentioning of the book wouldn't be unwelcome, as, though it in-itself is far from notable, it is a response to Manji's book. However, at least the bias should be removed, and the rest of the comment cleaned.

Unfortunately, however, this appears to be the quality of sources for the book, which is why I'm not personally interested in writing about it. Kanjo Kotr (talk) 13:53, 8 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

Books in "Muslim" Languages

edit

It doesn't look like translations of THE TROUBLE WITH ISLAM TODAY are available anywhere in Arabic, Persian, Urdu and other languages of countries where her book is banned. Can anyone find a link? 174.115.112.134 (talk) 05:08, 14 March 2013 (UTC)Reply

Criticism of Islam

edit

Wouldn't this be considered "Criticism of Mainstream Islam" than criticism of Islam as a whole? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 209.60.128.202 (talk) 21:38, 6 October 2015 (UTC)Reply
