Old Man
editI have deleted the note about the Old Man being a bowdlerization of phallus because it had no source cited. The information sheets on the hill (I have just climbed it) relate it to Bodach and make no mention of this. Thinking of the Old Man of Hoy, it seems to me like the old man motif needs no other explanation, so there have to be good reasons for saying it is a corruption - ergo, a citation is absolutely necessary. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 89.168.123.108 (talk) 21:20, 14 August 2012 (UTC)
This page only obliquely references the Old Man through a few pictures, but the Old Man is one of the most commonly mentioned landmarks on Skye. Not suggesting separate page for it (the name is redirected to here), but there should be a section on this page discussing the Old Man specifically. I don't feel capable of writing it though. Sorry. (Agree with previous Talk note, however) Springerj (talk) 17:34, 8 September 2018 (UTC)
- There ought to be an explanation section on the Storr, however. I have read, in Wiktionary, that the word stórr is the Norse word for "big" or "tall". https://en.m.wiktionary.org/wiki/st%C3%B3rr Nuttyskin (talk) 04:23, 6 November 2023 (UTC)
