Article Bare Bones Done edit

Okay I managed to get up enough stuff to not qualify for deletion, but this needs WAY more work, any help is appriciated. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Cosmic Larva (talkcontribs) 22:26, 3 August 2006

Requested move edit

The original editor of this article named this article "The Spoils(TCG)," however someone else expanded the name incorrectly. I reverted that (it was a copy and paste move - yikes!). The current title is equivalent to an article named "Monopoly - by Milton Bradley." That is not an appropriate article name. I would just move it to "The Spoils" myself, but obviously I can't because of the redirect.--Esprit15d 17:41, 4 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Move done. Both The Spoils (TCG) and The Spoils Tournament Card Game redirect here. Owen× 20:38, 4 August 2006 (UTC)Reply
Thanks. I was going to do that myself, but you beat me to it! Now, I just have to fix the internal links in wikipedia. XopherMV 22:03, 4 August 2006 (UTC)Reply
Thanks guys, I appriciate the help.It seems someone added the external links,I was planning on doing that but kudos to who ever did it themselves. I am going to add to it The Tournament Faction, a fansite that provides programs that can be used to design and test decks for The Spoils. --Cosmic Larva 21:31, 4 August 2006 (UTC)Reply
Yeah, I added those links. You're welcome! XopherMV 22:03, 4 August 2006 (UTC)Reply
"The Spoils(TCG)" has the parenthesis stuck to the word, so I am moving it to "The Spoils (TCG)"; its three links are the one above (which I am now changing), one in a user talk page archive (which I'll leave as is), and the hatnote in The Spoils (Rome), which should be removed anyway. Actually, the only reason I'm not listing it for deletion is because someone might type it in the search box. Waltham, The Duke of 23:34, 20 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Trademark edit

Please do not use "™" in the article, as per Wikipedia:Manual of Style (trademarks). Owen× 23:31, 4 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Alright sorry man, I was not aware that we could not use that symbol. Cosmic Larva 18:57, 9 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Spoiler List edit

I added a note on the unofficial sites section regarding their Spoiler List, which is currently the most accurate and up to date(as well as the ONLY one to my knowledge) of the Spoils Cards since Gencon. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Cosmic Larva (talkcontribs) 22:25, 14 August 2006

GenCon Indy statistics edit

Anyone have a hold of the statistics for the GenCon Indy event (attendance or whatnot)? I heard they were interesting, and thought they might be worth inserting into the article.

Of course, if it seems like that would be some form of advertisement, then it wouldn't worth being insertable. I guess what I'm asking/saying is if there were some sort of fact sheet on the GenCon Indy event, would it be worthy of inserting into the article? -160.10.7.102 20:35, 16 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Definately, if you have any info go ahead and add it. Cosmic Larva 22:58, 29 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Cleanup edit

May I just say kudos, and a heartfelt thanks to whoever took the time to really fix up the article, you did an amazing job. - GWN Cosmic Larva 13:37, 26 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Series of Tubes edit

I'm not into TCGs but I saw this card on eBay this evening called "Series of Tubes". Is this related to what I think it does? --Bushido Hacks 03:56, 26 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

  • it indeed is, one of many internet themed jokes contained in the Spoils. (On the card Scrag which depicts a mau, or Cat-person being assaulted, his gold medallion reads NEDM!. There are many other references as well. Cosmic Larva 21:45, 26 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

More Pages? edit

Well, this is the page on The Spoils.

How about we add some more?

Magic has a tonne of pages. Granted, these appear to be flavourful, but still.

We could have different pages on each of the trades, describing strategies and cards.

Opinions would be nice! KBKarma. Here and there. Exactly when not needed. 02:17, 7 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Article Cleanup and New Info Additions edit

Updated the article with the following:

  • Changed "References" to "Pop Culture References" in order to avoid confusion with the newly added References section at the bottom for source references.
  • Added information on Seed Cycle and "Bulbous Bouffant" from the Creative Team Interview on thespoils.com.
  • Added info on the setting and storyline, and split it from the Gameplay section.

I corrected the date for the first set of Seed. It's official release is in July. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Century (talkcontribs) 03:59, 19 April 2007

Tags edit

Someone asked on my talk page why I put the "existance" tag on the article. I don't know what that means, but I did put {{primary sources}} and {{importance}} on the article. This is because the article relies completely, so far as I can tell, on primary sources and other materials derived from parties with a conflict of interest. Reliable, third-party independent sources are needed to show that the topic has some significance and allow a balanced article. Citations from newspapers, professional game news sites, or trade magazines would help this article show that it is about a notable subject, as opposed to something that five or six people love to death. --Dhartung | Talk 22:55, 30 May 2007 (UTC)Reply
