HatNote Dab

edit

I rewrote the Dab'n text of the article for two separate, but interacting, reasons:

  1. My attention was drawn to an amb'ity a bit more diffuse than those i found already treated: In the context of Peter M's death, i realized (tho i've read neither book) that i have for years conflated his focus on a pursuit or study of one member of the species with an distinctively-Italian-named author's treatment of a real or imagined figure of Italian history: "The Leopard", i think, struck me as so much less distinctive from typical cognomens like "Def Leppard", "The Desert Fox", "The Swamp Fox" "The Swamp Fox", "The Pink Panther", "The Night Stalker" and "The Lion of Judah", that the title was for me so jarringly indistinct that i unconsciously confused the historical novel with a book (Peter M.'s "The Snow Leopard") that whose title felt more plausible.
  2. The four Dab targets fall into two groups, the two truly ambiguous works sharing the exact title "The Snow Leopard" and the two imprecise matches, Snow Leopard and (the one whose resemblance in at least my mind i've already described, The Leopard). IMO, breaking the first 2 off from the others will help users to navigate the two stronger and more likely-confused resemblances more smoothly, with the smaller number of users who are pursuing the more tenuously related titles enduring only slightly higher Dab-navigation overhead.
