Talk:The Silent House (2010 film)

Not a single shot edit

Folks, I watched the film in a cinema, and you can see some of the cuts. The easiest one to spot is when the girl falls asleep on the chair and then suddenly wakes up. Before she wakes up, the cut is subtle but very clear. The director claimed the whole time that it was shot in one take so as not to spoil the charm. If you don't trust me as a source, then watch the film and judge it yourselves. See you! --186.53.136.93 (talk) 13:40, 13 January 2012 (UTC)Reply

Sorry, here's my account. --NaBUru38 (talk) 13:42, 13 January 2012 (UTC)Reply
Hey.
I noticed that too. Apparently it was filmed in four days and then just cut together obviously.
When I watched the film I couldn't tell exactly where the cuts were, but there were certain parts of the film that felt different to the previous scene. It's a strange example, but imagine if wind suddenly blew into your face, you can obviously feel it and I felt this 'obvious change' with the film.
But whoever is reading this, NaBUru28 is correct, if you don't believe him and me as I'm a kind of source now I believe then watch the film yourself. Charlr6 (talk) 15:10, 13 January 2012 (UTC)Reply

There was never a film shot in Latin American with a "professional photo camera"?? edit

"It is the first Latin-American feature film to be shot entirely with a professional photo camera."

Huh? Am I missing some nuance here? No one in Latin America has ever shot a feature film with a professional camera? Maybe they mean a professional DIGITAL camera?

The camera used, the Canon 5D Mark II, is a DSLR, primarily used for taking still images. It also has the ability to record high quality video. Several tv shows and films have used the camera: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Canon_EOS_5D_Mark_II#Independent_film_and_television The Silent House is just the first South American film to do so. All of this is irrelevant. The fact is that the term "professional photo camera" is meaningless, since ALL cameras are photo cameras, and there is no suitable encyclopedic standard to distinguish professional from non-professional cameras. It is a nonsensical phrase coined by an unprofessional writer at a horror blog.Perhaps he meant to say "digital single lens reflex camera," but he didn't. Dread Central may be a reliable source so far as factual content is concerned but clarity of expression, in this instance, is lacking. I am about to delete the nonsensical phrase and its reference. Copy edit for plot summary edit

I placed the copy edit tag for the plot summary, it needs a major rewrite, especially for sentences like "Anyhow, she gets a hold on an old SLR camera and manages to light the room up for a split-second due to the camera's flash each time she takes a photo." and "Logically, Laura jumps up and flees to the next room to avoid getting stabbed." A more neutral, less casual essay like tone is needed. Will address some of it when I have time, unless someone else gets to it first. JamesG5 (talk) 18:45, 26 November 2015 (UTC)Reply
