But what was it about?
editThis article is indeed a stub. It calls the film a documentary, and says not a single word of what it was documenting. If anyone's seen it, please... — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2602:30A:C000:9590:7936:D392:CDC0:C3B6 (talk) 06:59, 8 June 2014 (UTC)

The Salt of the Earth (2014 film) → The Salt of the Earth – There is no other film called "The Salt of the Earth". 31.53.108.231 (talk) 10:32, 2 October 2016 (UTC)
- Oppose there's Salt of the Earth (1954 film), so WP:SMALLDETAILS applies. Lugnuts Dick Laurent is dead 12:23, 2 October 2016 (UTC)
- Oppose per Lugnuts. The 1954 film should probably get the link to 'The Salt of the Earth', as it is quite prominent. Confusion could easily bring readers looking for that film to this page if it is renamed. Randy Kryn 2:54, 3 October 2016 (UTC)
- Oppose per Lugnuts and Randy Kryn. The salt of the earth already redirects to Salt of the earth disambiguation page and The Salt of the Earth should also redirect there. —Roman Spinner (talk)(contribs) 21:11, 4 October 2016 (UTC)
- Comment: I have created The Salt of the Earth as a redirect towards Salt of the earth. If consensus is to move the article as proposed, the redirect I created can be deleted to make way for the move. Steel1943 (talk) 19:16, 5 October 2016 (UTC)

- The Salt of the Earth (2014 film) → The Salt of the Earth (film)
- Salt of the Earth (1954 film) → Salt of the Earth (film)
– Three-and-a-half years ago, a three-vote consensus, with none opposed, agreed at Talk:The Salt of the Earth (2014 film)#Requested Move 2 October 2016 that although there is only a single Wikipedia main title header, The Salt of the Earth, it would be more intuitive for it to serve as a redirect to the Salt of the Earth disambiguation page. However an official consensus has not yet been established whether it would be more helpful to users if these two film titles are considered as essentially the same and therefore use the "(YEAR film)" form or whether it would confuse users if WP:SMALLDIFFS were to be used as an argument that these really are different titles and that WP:THE should not be considered as a WP:SMALLDIFF. — Roman Spinner (talk • contribs) 23:44, 3 May 2020 (UTC)
- Oppose - "The" is almost never enough to make a clear distinction on its own, especially when some other places list films like "Salt of the Earth, The". Keep the years. -- Netoholic @ 11:18, 4 May 2020 (UTC)
- Oppose per Netoholic. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 11:23, 4 May 2020 (UTC)
- Oppose – that change would not really help the reader in any way – parenthetical disambiguation would still be used and readers could get the two names confused with each other anyway. —BarrelProof (talk) 22:20, 4 May 2020 (UTC)
- Comment. Disambiguating titles on the basis of a single "the" is not without precedent, viz. Invisible Man and The Invisible Man. But in this case the fact that both films aren't that well-known and one of them is translated from a foreign title makes this situation a bit different, so I'm undecided at the moment. -- King of ♥ ♦ ♣ ♠ 03:34, 5 May 2020 (UTC)
