I agree that The Rifles has the largest component of modern-day content of any of the Seven Dreams novels so far, but it is by no means the only one that is "not wholly" an historical novel. For example -- and this is by no means the only example -- there is a good bit about present-day Greenlanders and, if memory serves, about Vollmann's own travels in Northeastern Canada in The Ice Shirt. - Jmabel | Talk 06:54, 19 March 2015 (UTC)Reply
