I'm surprised that no one has used the works of Shelley Reece, the one academic who has published work on both this novel and Paul Scott. (I took a class from him in the 1980s, but when Jewel in the Crown was broadcast on PBS, the local paper had an article on him which asserted this.) -- llywrch (talk) 16:56, 18 October 2012 (UTC)Reply

Why criticism? edit

The criticism by Salman Rushdie is just ridiculous. It's quite obvious that the man may have heard about the Raj Quartet, but he certainly didn't read it.
