Profits? edit

There is no way that Hammer made $3,000,000 from QUATERMASS XPERIMENT... or any other film they ever made. The movie may have grossed $3,000,000, yes-- but half of that would be retained by the theaters themselves, the rest returned to the distributor(s). Hammer would then end up with whatever dribs the distributor deigned to pass on. The citation for the "$3 million" figure is not even a source on Hammer Films, but something else entirely.

Can we either get a correct figure, or just drop the reference? Overall, this is an excellent article, but that stands out as a gross factual error. Ted Newsom (talk) 22:05, 17 July 2010 (UTC)ted newsomTed Newsom (talk) 22:05, 17 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

I've rechecked the reference which says, "Xperiment brought in over $3 million in profits and saved Hammer Films from imminent collapse", but having looked at other sources for the sort of profits Hammer other films generally made, I'm inclined to agree that this assertion is dubious and I will remove. - Joe King (talk) 17:50, 28 December 2010 (UTC)Reply

Thora Hird edit

The film was recently shown on TV: and I noticed Thora Hird was listed on the credits - which part did she play? Jackiespeel (talk) 17:25, 12 November 2013 (UTC)Reply

Thora played Rosie, the drunk down-and-out lady who comes into the police station to report she has seen the creature and is shocked to discover that, for once, it's not the drink that's making her see things and they believe her story! A still from the scene can be found here - Joe King (talk) 19:02, 12 November 2013 (UTC)Reply
Thanks.

Space travel through private enterprise rather than government projects (and no mention of the Cold War). Jackiespeel (talk) 23:01, 12 November 2013 (UTC)Reply
