Stories

There's another story about the family going out on a horse ride. After a few steps, the horse stops and doesn't keep moving. The family tries to whip the horse, feed the horse, and then lighten the load, but with no avail. Finally, they call the lady from Philadelphia, who says: "Why don't you unchain the horse from the horse post?"

Oh yes , I remember that chapter "Mrs. Peterkin Wishes to Go To Drive ". I could'nt decide whether to feel sorry for the horse for being whipped for no rational reason or laugh at the incredible stupidity of Mrs. Peterkin and Elizabeth-Eliza . What I would like to know is the Philadelphia lady's identity ? Does Lucretia Hale reveal her identity in any of the other books about the Peterkins ? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 198.175.175.108 (talk) 20:57, 7 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

This is an encyclopedia, not a literary critique

edit

The majority of the article seems to be more a review of the book than an objective description. It should be edited to be more appropriate for an encyclopedia. --24.91.78.235 (talk) 16:03, 18 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

Rewrote article

edit

I just rewrote this article, and removed everything that could not be referenced. Though it is still no more than a stub this article now has references for the first time, and I tried to make it read like an encyclopedia entry. Karenthewriter (talk) 01:13, 14 January 2023 (UTC)Reply
