Why was the film deemed obscene at first?
editCan we add any sourced information indicating what bothered people so much about this film? -GTBacchus(talk) 18:34, 20 August 2008 (UTC)
- GTBacchus, 12 years later, and still nothing! I guess one just has to watch the film, and know when you see it ... GPinkerton (talk) 23:19, 6 January 2021 (UTC)
- @GPinkerton: not that I have watched the movie, but the articles wording of "Clandestinely, they spend the night together." Is a pretty good hint. Charliethelionking (talk) 23:38, 6 January 2021 (UTC)
- Charliethelionking, er, yes, thanks, but that also happens in Shakespeare, so what was it that was on camera that someone had to go to court about it? Too much ankle? An unmarried couple? "French" kissing? Actual nudity? What was acceptable to French filmmakers and American judges but not to the U.S. cinema-goer in the late 1950s? GPinkerton (talk) 00:44, 7 January 2021 (UTC)

editPerhaps some mention of Brahms's famous so-called "sex-tet" is in order. 188.169.229.30 (talk) 21:36, 19 October 2012 (UTC)
