South Lawn project
editIs the comm. school moving to a new building next to Rouss? I'd heard they were moving into Rouss itself. The University's website seems to corroborate this (this), although I know there have been some changes over the last year and this site hasn't been updated since April. - Good Call. I think you're right. I remember a sign that says that Rouss hall will be the new Commerce School. I added some stuff about the Lighting and the Pavilions. We seem to edit a lot of the same stuff, huh? --ZachPruckowski 23:48, 30 January 2006 (UTC)
- Yeah, seems we do. Your last name is both a) unusual and b) familiar enough that I did a facebook search to ascertain whether you're one of my contemporaries -- alas, you're lucky enough to still be in Charlottesville. Enjoy it while it lasts. Thanks for mentioning the LotL poem, by the way. I wrote the '02 poem. Pete Gillen mistook me writing out "B - O - V" as a cue for him to say "bov." D'oh. - Really? So is it always the basketball coach? That's something to add, maybe?--ZachPruckowski 00:14, 31 January 2006 (UTC)

Pavilion VIII
edit...does house the Guide Service, but it also has faculty residents -- two sets, actually: one group of residents on the top floor (Mike Thrift & Prof. Della-Coletta(sp?) until '05), and there's also a smaller basement-ish residence to the lower east (abutting the garden.) - Really? huh. my bad. I guess we're each 1-and-1 tonight. If you don't mind, I'm actually going to ask around about it though. --ZachPruckowski 00:09, 31 January 2006 (UTC)
- The former life editor/now assistant managing editor of the CD tells me that this week there's a two-part series on the Pavilion residents. Keep an eye out for it. EEMeltonIV 05:08, 2 February 2006 (UTC)
- You were right. An Ed School Prof. lives there. I'll compile the two articles and add stuff about them to here. --ZachPruckowski 18:59, 2 February 2006 (UTC)

Photos
editI like the Holsinger photos as much as anyone, but might some more modern pictures be in order here? Tjarrett (talk) 14:36, 9 April 2008 (UTC)
Merge proposal
editI propose merging South Lawn Project into The Lawn. In the alternative, I recommend deleting South Lawn Project as not notable in its own right. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs)/(e-mail) 05:16, 25 May 2008 (UTC)
- Support. That project is about expanding the scope of the Lawn and has very little meaning outside the historical context of the Lawn's growth and development. Tjarrett (talk) 20:51, 28 May 2008 (UTC)
- OK, I've done an initial merge. I think there's a lot more to be done on this article, particularly WRT the architecture and history of the Jeffersonian original buildings, but this will do for now. Tjarrett (talk) 01:28, 2 September 2008 (UTC)
- Well, so much for the original history! There's a lot more to write but I think the basic outline is there. More historical info about the uses of the Lawn is probably appropriate now. -Tjarrett (talk) 14:23, 8 September 2008 (UTC)
update
editwhere is the mention of poe's room and the slave who used to stay on the lawn?(Lihaas (talk) 22:15, 7 January 2011 (UTC)).
Slavery on the Lawn
editInteresting discussion spearheaded by Lihaas (talk)'s comment about slavery. There's been a lot of research in the past ten years about the role of slaves at the University, and some discussion of their living quarters on the Lawn is probably appropriate as part of an expansion of this article. Other opportunities for expansion might include detailed descriptions of the different pavilions. -Tjarrett (talk) 13:48, 22 January 2014 (UTC)
