Shelved in favor of Guero edit

"The album was recorded by Beck in 2003, but shelved in favor of his previous album, Guero."

I don't believe this statement is correct. As I understand it, Beck went back into the studio in October 2003 and began working concurrently on tracks with the Dust Brothers for Guero and Nigel Godrich for The Information. Beck met with Nigel for a series of three recording sessions, each time re-recording and refining material they had previously made. Therefore, the album was not actually completed until mid-2006.

International Bonus Tracks edit

The bonus tracks from international versions of the album should be noted on this page:

"Inside Out" "This Girl that I Know "O Menina"

First single radio date edit

The first single was confirmed to be "Nausea", and officially goes to radio on September 5th, 2006. [3] I believe this is incorrect, as it was played on the radion here in Kansas City, on Aug. 22. --buzlink 17:09, 23 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

The key word for that was "officially".

Samples edit

"It is also worth noting that this track samples the bass line from the bonus Rockit Megamix track from Herbie Hancock's 1983 Future Shock album."

Is it really worth noting? Loads of Beck songs use samples, and if each of them were noted, it'd take up a huge amount of space. --Nick San 08:33, 4 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

You're right. I took it out. BGC 19:33, 6 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

HEY!!! why did you take it out? oh my god, what kind of disinformation are you trying to spread by omitting such truths? Herbie Hancock is awesome and people should know of this somewhat trivial Herbie Hancock/Beck Hansen connection. you are doing Herbie Hancock a massive injustice, and what's more tragic, he is still able to visit wikipedia and find there is no recognition whatsoever for his amazing musical contributions. You have let poor Herbie down and that is unacceptable. Jivesucka 13:27, 12 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

Track listing edit

I'm puzzled at the obsession with a small typeface for the song duration on the track listing. The Wiki style at [1] doesn't call for that. I don't see any compelling need to create a new style for one Beck album. Grimhim 00:33, 16 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

  • I've seen the small text on various other albums, and personally I think it looks sharp. I went back and changed the rest of his discography to the small text, to make it consistent. However, in retrospect I see that this could have opened a big, controversial can of worms. Evan Reyes 02:53, 16 October 2006 (UTC)Reply
I don't know about controversy ... it just seems an awful lot of trouble to go to for the sake of making it look "sharp". From where I sit, it certainly makes the time listings harder to read. I figure that there is an established style, so the more uniformly displayed the album entries are, the better. If everyone struck out with their own style, it makes for a messy Wiki. The Information Deluxe edit

Well I'm a little divided here but I think later today I'm going to add material related to the re-release of the album in its deluxe version which was a 2CD and gave 6 remixes. I'll probably use some sources like pitchfork -- also interesting is that they gave this deluxe version a higher score than when they scored the album's original release. You can also see the album here. So if no one objects I might create a section or subsection under the bonus track section about tracks included on this release. What do you think? Exosceleton [sic]? edit

On beck.com, it lists the last track word to be "EXOSCELETON". Is this spelling present on the physical album tracklist? If so, the article needs to be changed. Steveprutz 21:49, 10 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Plans to Add and Organize edit

What I would like to see and plan on adding to the page is a sub point under release titled reception. It will talk about a few notable reviews and how they interpreted the album. I also feel that some lines are out of place so will be rearranging a little as well. Would like to hear any type of feedback.

UK Charts Information edit

Here are some articles from 2006 detailing a bit of the controversy over the album's banning from the UK's charts. Information regarding these events should be included in the 'Charts and Certifications' section and is relevant to the 'Artwork' section as well.

Plan To Add Media edit

I hopefully would like to add media to this article. I would like to add pictures of the album stickers and if I can find completed artwork of the album. I also would like to add a link to the individual music videos of the album.Nickb0314 (talk) 19:01, 6 April 2014 (UTC)Reply

I just ordered the album from the internet to take pictures of the blank disc and after the disc has been decorated to add to the artwork section 2601:2:4A80:CA1:FD52:96C3:4AD3:97CB (talk) 02:09, 9 April 2014 (UTC)Reply

I plan to add additional information to the artwork section, explain more as to why he chose to make the album artwork so unique. 75.149.157.1 (talk) 14:32, 10 April 2014 (UTC)Reply
