calling attention to what is mostly promotion

edit

this article seems to be mostly promotional piece for the band. i dont think it needs deletion, as they do have a historic release on rounder records, but i dont see more info than would require a stub. im new at tagging articles, and tried to find one that fit this article. i will try to find tags about advertising, etc. what would be nice is if a band member could rewrite it with appropriate restraint. come on, listing the weekly appearance they have? thats not notable. reviewing notability for bands, im not sure they make it, but i also understand thats not automatic criteria for deletion. if nothing else happens, ill at least trim out some biased writing shortly.Mercurywoodrose (talk) 05:18, 8 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

Hi, folks -Chandler here from the Incredible Casuals...hope I'm not breaching any form of Wikipedia protocol here (I confess to not reading most of the directions), but I stumbled across our entry and the response to it today, and of course (as with many internet controversies) was surprised that anyone cared that much... I enjoyed the entry, but can certainly see why someone might regard it as sounding a little too promotional, and not sticking to the facts or whatevah. Anyway, I checked with the various band members and established that it wasn't generated by anyone in the band or on our payroll (not that there is anyone on our payroll, but that's another whole fascinating topic.) Rikki, our drummer, said he might try to edit it someday, so no one would be offended. I said, fine. And there you have it!

On the other hand, I loved finding out that these things - "~" - are called "tildes"; I've always had a thing for tildes... Farfy0 (talk) 06:22, 4 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

  • if you write on my talk page some of the most relevants facts regarding your band, ill be glad to get the article in shape. for notability: the 2 most important record releases youve had, and the best link to a review, either in major local paper or a magazine. even if the magazine article isnt on line, if it was published and you know the issue, good enough for me. aside from that, a current band roster, brief history of changes to lineup, style of music, notable gigs. no forthcoming albums, and no myspace type links. no rush, and thanks for responding. for my part, i wont be too anxious to trim, its been here a while.
