Talk:The In Sound from Way Out! (Beastie Boys album)

Latest comment: 3 years ago by 186.20.237.222 in topic Same cover art?

Release date wrong?

edit

Music from this album was heavily used in the french movie "La Haine", which premiered in 1995. On Imdb, the mentioned year is 1994. How can it be released in 1996? LarryMGolden (talk) 13:23, 3 April 2018 (UTC)Reply

Same cover art?

edit

As I can see, the cover art looks nothing like on the Perrey and Kingsley version, so why does it say it does? --BlooWilt on the wikiprowl, later! 15:30, 20 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Oh, my mistake, it's the concept. --BlooWilt on the wikiprowl, later! 03:06, 22 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

You are right in what you say that it is not the same, but the concept of the cover is similar to that of the Perrey and Kingsley album. And that is more certain with the title of the album, which is the same as the 1966 album made by the Perrey and Kingsley duo, however it is not the exact same cover. --186.20.237.222 (talk) 20:16, 17 January 2021 (UTC)Reply

Sorry I moved this article before noticing this post to talk. The dab was unnecessary in addition to improper caps. I also added a category to the redirect, making it so that I can't move it back. Again, sorry for the headache. —Justin (koavf)TCM04:45, 5 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

WP:PRIMARYTOPIC says:
  • A topic is primary for a term with respect to usage if it is highly likely—much more likely than any other single topic, and more likely than all the other topics combined—to be the topic sought when a reader searches for that term.
How to measure this likelihood? Let's look at (1) incoming article links: 78 for Beastie Boys / 18 for Perrey and Kingsley = factor 4.3; and (2) page views in the last five years: 108,996 for Beastie Boys, 29,585 for Perrey and Kingsley = factor 3.7. I'd say a factor around 80/20 is not quite enough for "highly likely" and "much more likely".
WP:PRIMARYTOPIC also says:
  • A topic is primary for a term with respect to long-term significance if it has substantially greater enduring notability and educational value than any other topic associated with that term.
The fact that the Beastie Boys copied the title and the cover design of the Perrey and Kingsley album 30 years after its release proves the long-term significance and enduring notability and educational value of the latter. The Beastie Boys album has certainly had greater notability in the last 24 years, but not substantially greater.
Maybe the request to move this page is somewhat related to the sudden spike in page views after the digital release of the Beastie Boys Story? -- Chrisahn (talk) 23:09, 19 May 2020 (UTC)Reply
