Alternative Summary edit

A greedy dance hall girl (Irene Hervey) takes a sharp young bookie (Robert Anderson) for a sucker. To get his revenge, he pretends to make her a star. Proving that he knows people on Broadway, he tricks her into a contract where most of her earnings go to him. Needing a show in which she can appear, he cons a retired Gilbert & Sullivan company into re-forming, obtains an empty theatre for a night, and fills it by blackmail. They play “The Mikado”, which is deservedly a hit. He, overwhelmed with regret over his deceit, proposes and she, overwhelmed with gratitude over his support, accepts.
