Collective effort

edit

I think this article could benefit from some description of the collective nature of much of Warhol's art practice. His "assistants" and collaborators. Design 00:49, 26 January 2006 (UTC)Reply

Yes, good point, and in particular I'd try to cover Paul Morrissey.
In general, I think this article may take the Factory's "legend" a little too seriously. E.g. is it really true that The Factory was a heavy party scene/hang-out? Morrissey describes some of the famous photo shoots as essentially set-ups, they would get on the phone and get the gang together to act like they were casually hanging around... This article had a couple of small mistakes such as saying the silver factory was in the seveties, not the sixties, and not really describing the nature of the silver decorations which were made by Billy Name mostly influenced by his heavy amphetamine use. 189.135.34.94 01:55, 26 February 2007 (UTC)louisa reneroReply

Commentary on "American Values" - Citation, or removal?

edit

Under 'The Silver Factory', a sentence mentions that The Factory's industrial qualities were a commentary on American Values. I think that sentence is meaningless -- what was the commentary? The sentence comes across as saying that Warhol is criticizing American values, and that statement is a controversial one - in fact, from an academic perspective, it doesn't seem Warhol's character to criticize American values. JKobyP (talk) 21:45, 1 March 2014 (UTC)Reply

I think the sentence should be removed.

Jean Michaekl Basquiat

edit

He shouldn't be in the list; while he had a close friendship with Warhol it was during the 80's long after the Factory had closed it's doors. Even the disastorous film Basquiat shows he had his own studio in a basement.

Criminal Intent?

edit

The heading "criminal intent" for the section on various crimes that occurred at the Factory seems an odd choice and not very appropriate for an encyclopedia article. Perhaps someone was just trying to be overly hip, or perhaps it's a literary or cultural reference and I just don't "get it"... ? - Mark Dixon 15:03, 10 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Sticky Fingers album cover

edit

I'm pretty sure the crotch featured on the cover of Sticky Fingers is that of Joe Dallesandro. At least, according to the article on Joe, it is. Does anyone have any references for this? --Eastlaw (talk) 08:07, 12 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Fair use rationale for Image:Thecouch.jpg

edit

Image:Thecouch.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Quote from "Ondine"

edit

Does not appear on the page that supposedly references it. If someone can't find an actual source for him supposedly having Warhol thrown out of a party, it should be removed from the article. I'm not saying it *didn't* happen, just that it isn't located in the referenced citation. The page only mentions Ondine 3 times, none of which have anything to do with how he met Warhol, or anything of the sort.

Anyone else have a comment? A reference? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.23.6.71 (talk) 15:02, 13 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

just noticed this same issue 12 years later, hasn't been updated? someone should remove this quote or update the citation. 142.126.161.86 (talk) 19:02, 13 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
