The EVVY Awards are the largest student-produced awards program in the entire United States. Every year, not dozens, but HUNDREDS of students put hard work into a live awards show that is broadcast not only to Emerson, but also to the entire Boston-metro area. The show has a budget of tens of thousands of dollars and comes out each year as broadcast-quality, with students striving to create a professional-looking stage design as well as a professionally run show. Also, each year, many celebrities give their endorsements on video to the organization, which are then played back during the show. Past celebrities have included cast members from Lost, The Office, RENT, Extras, Everybody Loves Raymond, and many other well-known television programs and theater productions.
The fact that it is the largest in the country gives it a credible claim to significance, and the fact that it is a professional-quality show run by students makes it doubly so.
It should also be noted that the term "EVVY" is trademarked to Emerson College due to the brand recognition of The EVVY Awards.
