However, the new publication had minimal impact on campus until 2004, when it began to make gains against the Review.

What does this mean? We're talking about a student publication here. How does one measure "making gains"? --Deville (Talk) 06:14, 5 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

Diversity edit

Where on the masthead does it say the 1997 staff of the Review was ethnically diverse? JDoorjam Talk 19:43, 17 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

From the article:

The editors, several of whom were members of racial minorities although none African-American, defended the editorial as satire and criticized the burning as suppression of free speech, winning some publicity in conservative circles[citation needed].

Well, if it's just several people we are talking about, why not just say, "...several of whom were Vietnamese-American" etc? Then we would not need this strange "although non African-American" disclaimer. In addition, let's consider why there is a statement about the racial makeup of the editors to begin with. If there's any substantial reason why that should be mentioned for NPOV reasons, then being more precise should not hurt. But it seems to me that a more precise statement like, "one editor was Vietnamese-American, another was a Chinese-American" or whatever, adds incredibly little. It's ridiculous really. I'm puzzled why such a statement was even added, unless perhaps, it was added, as typically is the case, as a kind of defensive gesture. --C S (Talk) 20:56, 17 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

I've removed the statement, per Chan-Ho. JDoorjam Talk 15:09, 25 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

Ownership edit

The paper is published by an independent corporation registered in Ithaca called Ithaca Review, Inc; you'll usually find the names of the board of directors, mostly Review alumni, on the masthead. It is a longtime member of Collegiate Network, which is currently administered by ISI, but not "owned" in any sense by either. -choster 19:00, 26 August 2006 (UTC)Reply
