Is the character of Saga Norén handicapped?

Maybe it's the translation by subtitle that means the nuances of the original Swedish/Danish is lost on me, but the character is almost borderline autistic or has a condition akin to Asperger's syndrome. Any thoughts? Anything from Danish or Swedish sources that actually explain what her motivations are? Is she a mentally curtailed character or is this just an error or lack of tact in the translation of the character into English? 109.150.239.155 (talk) 17:14, 29 May 2012 (UTC)

No, you got it right. Kind of anyway. They do spell it out in the first episode that she is different, when the collegue says "have you told him that she is a bit odd?". Many people in Sweden assumed she had Aspergers too. However, that was apparantly not the writers' specific intention. They just wrote her to be someone who is blunt, likes following rules and lacking in social skills but without any specific diagnosis. -- Darthdyas (talk) 21:23, 29 June 2012 (UTC)
She certainly suffers from some form of autism spectrum disorder. Whether or not the writers were aware that behaviour like hers clearly indicates that is neither here nor there. In many ways her character is unrealistic because she is obviously an extremely intelligent woman and such people are able to mask their condition by learning social conventions as matters of fact and logic (rather than automatically assimilating them as normal people do.) In particular, when she spoke of her sister, her emotional detachment was extraordinary. Other very obvious markers were her telling her hosts that their food 'was not at all tasty' and, after being told she should make more small talk, announcing to a mixed group of colleagues that she had started a period. These actions, along with many others, make it very clear that she is unable to empathise with others. PRL42 (talk) 07:11, 30 June 2012 (UTC)
The article states that "She has autistic tendencies,..." - It would be more accurate to say that she displays the symptoms of Asperger's Syndrome. She clearly has well developed language skills, is able to start and continue a conversation (provided she's interested in the topic), and is capable of sustained eye contact. What symptoms she does display - social awkwardness, emotional detachment, an apparent lack of empathy - point to Asperger's, rather than Autism. While both conditions are in the same "family" of disorders, they are not interchangeable. Lunarmovements (talk) 00:49, 4 August 2012 (UTC)
Since it is never made explicit that she has had any diagnosis it would seem better to leave it vague rather than attempt an unqualified, definite, diagnosis. Asperger's is part of the 'autism spectrum' so to say the she appears to display tendencies consistent with autism spectrum disorder would seem to be as far as we can reasonably go in the absence of citable evidence. I will change the wording slightly. PRL42 (talk) 06:23, 4 August 2012 (UTC)

Hardly any longer "starter class" of "low importance

As an award-winning TV series broadcast to near 150 countries around the world and of much pride to Danish and Swedish people, The Bridge deserves a detailed Wikipedia entry. It has been recently expanded and deserves to be classed higher than "starter class" of "low importance"--Punavuori (talk) 07:32, 25 November 2013 (UTC)

Yes, the article "deserves" a detailed entry; it's notability is not in doubt (and thank you for expanding it!). And it has been re-assessed by all three projects to C-class per Quality scale. However it's rating on those projects Importance scale (like any TV series) is unlikely to be greater than Low. It's worth checking the criteria and examples there to be clear. But you can request an assessment/re-assessment if you disagree. Swanny18 (talk) 19:44, 6 January 2014 (UTC)

Plot summaries

Both series now have a detailed plot summary; however would it not be better to have an episode guide, as the articles on the two english-language versions of this programme have (see here, and here) ? Swanny18 (talk) 19:52, 6 January 2014 (UTC)

Comment: What is the rationale of the rename request anyway? Is there any relevant discussion? The Bridge (2013 TV series) uses the year-based nomenclature. There is also another such series in the pipeline. -Mardus /talk 20:23, 4 September 2016 (UTC)
