Potential source material for song edit

This may sound strange but as it turns out my D&D group is quite certain we know what source material Stephin Merritt used to write the song. My Dungeon master is nearly certain that in or around 1992 he was telling the tale of a previous D&D campaign he was a player (character named William the wise) in that revolved around "the book of love" this campaign took place in 1985 mind you, nearly 15 years before the existence of the song, the book of love was a fixed point in space and therefore could not be moved as well as being larger than a dragon, so no-one could lift the damn thing. it was the source of all music and they had to break a very special artifact horn upon the book of love to return music to the world. the book was very long, very boring, and filled with flowers and what each one was used for in romantic situations. it was also mentioned to have information that even ancient immortal beings were too young to know. the charts and figures appears to be an addition by the author of the song. but this story telling and discussion of what occurred in the campaign included an individual that was supposedly born to the normal spelling of the name Stephen but, for some reason my DM cannot recall, his name was changed to Stephin which seems to fit with what I can find about the writer. so while my DM is not the creator of the original story pertaining to the D&D creation "the book of love" he reincorporated it into our campaign having recalled it, and it being pertinent to our situation in our game, upon doing so we discovered this song one day and have since gone down the rabbit hole of trying to figure out just how on earth a D&D homebrew creation made by our DM's previous DM in 1985 could possibly be nearly identically described in a song written in 1999.

Anyway all that spewed out there now, im not certain what if anything should or even can be included, or how to go about verifying with the writer if any of this could truly be the case, for our own satisfaction, as well as being able to update this article with accurate information on the songs source material.
