Roses = England edit
I'm surprised that anyone reading the lyrics/ballard quoted could possibly conclude otherwise than that the Bonny Bunch of Roses was England itself. As well as possibly disaffected Irish, we also have the Scots (use of word "bonny" isn't very Irish) - and, remind me, how many years separated the Napoleanic Wars and Culloden? 121.45.141.157 (talk) 13:24, 19 January 2011 (UTC)
Bonny Bunch of Roses is NOT Bonaparte's Retreat edit
Bonaparte's Retreat is a fiddle tune (which I believe someone put words to a few years back here in the US and which made it to the charts back in the 60's or 70's) and NOT the "Bonny Bunch of Roses" aka "By the Margins of the Ocean"! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 216.81.94.70 (talk) 13:03, 24 February 2011 (UTC)
I agree. No source is cited for them being the same, and I can't find any. I've edited the article accordingly.
