Talk:The Best American Short Stories

Untitled

edit

Hey I made an entry for 2006, but I listed the stories in the order they appear in instead of alphabetically because I noticed the 2008 article was missing a story. I assume that's because whoever made the entry didn't go in the order they appeared but jumbled it all up alphabetically and left one out. Themightybotox (talk) 21:19, 2 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

Frederick Busch

Does anyone know if Frederick Busch has ever been included in any edition of The Best American Short Stories?

It makes no sense to redirect the link for 2020 back to the main article in which the link appears! I don't know where this is to be found. --Baekemm (talk) 18:18, 19 November 2023 (UTC)Reply

No consensus to redirect all the individual volumes of this series

edit

I rolled back Randykitty's redirects of all the individual volumes of this series, and the linked selected works in this article, because such a major change must first have consensus. BASS is one of the most acclaimed short story anthology series of all time, with the individual volumes frequently receiving acclaim and numerous reviews that prove their own notability. Even a quick search in the Wikipedia Library shows a number of reviews for the individual volumes in the series, proving their notability. At this point I do not believe there is consensus to redirect all of these individual articles.--SouthernNights (talk) 17:10, 20 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

I should have added that while I don't believe there is consensus at this point to turn all the individual BASS volume articles into redirect, I hope others will share their own view on if this should be done. SouthernNights (talk) 12:51, 21 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
I strongly believe that each annual volume of BASS should have a separate page which interested readers can be referred to if, for instance, they are reading an article about a short story writer and want to see their work in a larger (historical) context. Your own comment above and especially the main article about BASS make the point well (with references) that the entire series is of considerable literary significance and so I believe this information does not need to be repeated in the articles for every single volume.
