Surely as, at the time of the BBC’s first foray into the Beatles sessions archive in 1988, they only had one tape surviving in the archive - other material came from transcription service discs - and it was the broadcasting of the initial programme that saw tapes and other recordings coming back to the Beeb, the programme isn’t a misnomer.
The BBC possibly clouded the issue at the time, as publicity made it seem that the series had come from the “vaults” of the archive - but this wasn’t true: it had been assembled by Kevin Howlett from many sources, some of which he had uncovered, and a large portion of which was volunteered by people such as engineers and members of the public. I agree 100% with the above which is supported by an article in the Macclesfild Express that the tapes had been erased and supplied via various people as given in Kevin Howletts book (The Beatles at the Beeb) Mike Adams Tony Wilson etc — Preceding unsigned comment added by 95.147.248.31 (talk) 12:02, 24 September 2011 (UTC)Reply
