Hey, I'm going to be reviewing this article. Expect comments by the end of the week. Some Dude From North Carolina (talk) 16:16, 15 June 2021 (UTC)Reply

Ready when you are, Some Dude From North Carolina! SNUGGUMS (talk / edits) 18:05, 15 June 2021 (UTC)Reply

Infobox and lead edit

• Add alt text to the film's poster and remove "(United States)".
• In the lead, list Paul Rudd before Romany Malco for consistency with #Cast.
• Add a name comma after "Andy's love interest".
• Add a MOS:LOCATIONCOMMA after Los Angeles, California.
• Los Angeles, California → Los Angeles, California (WP:OVERLINK)
• Also add a WP:DATECOMMA after August 19, 2005.
• Lead should end on a high note. Maybe mention its AFI award win.

Plot and cast edit

• 692 words so this passes WP:FILMPLOT.
• "join them for to a" – typo?
• Maybe merge the image captions into one.
• Move both citations in #Cast to the end of the sentence.
"who buys a television,[5] and Loudon Wainwright III as a priest.[6]" → "who buys a television, and Loudon Wainwright III as a priest.[5][6]"

Production and release edit

• Add alt text to Judd Apatow's image.
• independent film.[17][9] → independent film.[9][17]
• "expressed desires to make something [...] It is based on" – feels off to have these sentences side by side. Merge?
• Update the Box Office Mojo link so it goes to the title summary instead of the domestic gross.

Reception edit

• Reduce the use of quotes (WP:RECEPTION).
• The accolades table has a few issues:
• First, change recipient(s) to nominee(s) for consistency.
• After that, remove the other films from the AFI nomination.
• "Movies of the Year" → "Top 10 Films of the Year"
• The "award" column should link to the award presenters.
• ... and date of ceremony should link to the ceremony.
• Link Critics' Choice Movie Award for Best Comedy.
• See WP:NOTBROKEN when linking to award presenters.
Example: Golden Schmoes Awards instead of Golden Schmoes Awards
• The first column needs to use rowscopes.
• Remove every <br/> – (MOS:ACCESS)
• Optional, but I suggest adding a references column.

Your review is greatly appreciated, Some Dude From North Carolina! I've revised this article and it should look better now. The one thing I'm not sure about is linking: How do I link multiple authors in a citation without removing the "last name, first name" format shown, and are you saying all Ebert refs should link to his page? In any case, when it's possible to just directly link to a page's title (thus giving readers the actual names of articles), I don't see any benefit in going out of one's way to deliberately replace it with a redirect. P.S. Any suggestions on what to change/add before taking the article to FAC would be appreciated. SNUGGUMS (talk / edits) 00:09, 16 June 2021 (UTC)Reply
You can use "|author-link1=" and "|author-link2=" to link multiple authors in a citation (also yes to the second question if linking "Ebert, Robert"). Avoiding pipe links and sending readers to redirects is simply done in case that page (in this case the award presenters) is one day created, as a pipeline would then be sending people to the wrong article (see WP:NOTBROKEN). Final comments would be to use "cite BOM", "cite RT", and "cite MC". Some Dude From North Carolina (talk) 13:43, 16 June 2021 (UTC)Reply
@Some Dude From North Carolina: Done with the final comments. Chompy Ace 15:38, 16 June 2021 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for the help, Chompy Ace (you beat me to it with the templates), and I've now altered the linking. This should now be ready for GA promotion. SNUGGUMS (talk / edits) 17:37, 16 June 2021 (UTC)Reply
