Title

edit

Actually, the title of the film is simply "Texas Chainsaw", as stated in the opening credit. The poster name is just an alternate title for the 3D release. Similarly, the poster for "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2" is "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre Part 2", but again, it's not listed as such in the opening credits, so it set a precedent for official titles. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 174.54.70.216 (talk) 07:24, 11 January 2013 (UTC)Reply

I kind of agree with you. When I watched the credits, the copyright title was listed as simply "Texas Chainsaw". Let's see what others think.  BIGNOLE  (Contact me) 13:43, 11 January 2013 (UTC)Reply
Just change it, it's more accurate.Hellboy42 (talk) 08:54, 21 January 2013 (UTC)Reply
The name for film in the description on the poster is "Texas Chainsaw 3D". I don't mean just in the image, but below where the cast, director, etc., is listed. See here. All Hallow's Wraith (talk) 05:17, 22 January 2013 (UTC)Reply

Why no international release?

edit

Does anyone know why this film wasn't shown outside the US? 112.198.82.227 (talk) 06:17, 28 October 2013 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 112.198.82.227 (talk) 05:47, 28 October 2013 (UTC)Reply

The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review. No further edits should be made to this section.

The result of the move request was: not moved. The redirect should probably be taken to RfD to discuss where it should point. Jenks24 (talk) 16:58, 15 July 2015 (UTC)Reply

Texas Chainsaw 3DTexas Chainsaw – The actual onscreen title is "Texas Chainsaw". The title "Texas Chainsaw 3D" was only used in promotional materials - posters and trailers. Needs to be done over redirect. – Gothicfilm (talk) 01:07, 8 July 2015 (UTC)Reply

This is a contested technical request (permalink).  Philg88 talk 05:22, 8 July 2015 (UTC)Reply
  • Object to RMTR speedy move I think the franchise itself is the primary topic for the term "Texas Chainsaw" -- 67.70.32.20 (talk) 04:45, 8 July 2015 (UTC)
If that were true the Texas Chainsaw page would not redirect to this page Texas Chainsaw 3D, as it has since January 2, 2013‎ when this film was released. Clearly Texas Chainsaw does not serve as the franchise page. As seen in the lead, the franchise page is The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (franchise). As seen stated above on this Talk page, When I watched the credits, the copyright title was listed as simply "Texas Chainsaw". That should be the name of the article. - Gothicfilm (talk) 07:29, 8 July 2015 (UTC)Reply
  • "Texas Chainsaw" should redirect to the franchise article. We can do that after this move request is dispensed with. People clearly use "Texas Chainsaw"/"Texas Chain Saw" to refer to the franchise [1][2] -- 67.70.32.20 (talk) 07:32, 10 July 2015 (UTC)Reply
There might be a problem with redirecting Texas Chainsaw away from the film that actually has that title. But if that is done the film's page name should be moved to Texas Chainsaw (film). - Gothicfilm (talk) 22:54, 10 July 2015 (UTC)Reply
  • Tentative oppose: I don't really care what the on-screen title is – that doesn't necessarily matter. A quick look at the cited sources (e.g., their titles) gives me the strong impression that "Texas Chainsaw 3D" is the more common name used by reliable sources. That name also provides helpful information to show what is probably the most notable apect of this film that distinguishes it from the others in the franchise. The nominator seems to also acknowledge that this was the name used on "promotional materials - posters and trailers", so why not just keep it at that name? Please see WP:COMMONNAME. —BarrelProof (talk) 19:27, 9 July 2015 (UTC)Reply
I am very familiar with WP:COMMONNAME. But "Texas Chainsaw 3D" is not its title. It only existed as a promotional title during its theatrical release. It is now known as "Texas Chainsaw" on DVD, streaming and cable TV. Readers looking for "Texas Chainsaw" based on those venues now and in the future won't be expecting to see "3D" in the title. - Gothicfilm (talk) 20:19, 9 July 2015 (UTC)Reply
