Talk:Tennent H. Bagley

Latest comment: 1 year ago by Martin of Sheffield in topic Reference clean-up

I'm having problems creating references.

edit

Right now I have two different reference formats in my References section. How do I delete the bottom two, or change them so they're like the one on the top? Just curious: Why do I see all three of them in "Read" mode, but not in "Edit" mode? Thanks. Was Kisevalter Nash? (talk) 21:53, 6 April 2023 (UTC)Reply

I've tidied up a couple of references to keep the format uniform. Hope that's OK with you. Martin of Sheffield (talk) 19:37, 7 April 2023 (UTC)Reply

Thinking Ahead . . .

edit

If my draft article is rejected, will I be given an opportunity to edit it and resubmit it?

Well I can't say for certain, but the way it's shaping up I wouldn't expect you'd have any problems. Were it to be rejected, then the draft would remain as a draft and you would be able to address the issues. The normal reasons for problems are: WP:BLP, WP:COPYVIO and WP:N. Since he died nearly 10 years ago the first shouldn't be an issue (and even then you're well on the way with cited facts to meet the higher standard). I can't see any copying. From the number of secondary sources he seems notable. Martin of Sheffield (talk) 11:47, 10 April 2023 (UTC)Reply

Can I Edit the Title of My Article Before I Submit It?

edit

I'm thinking about changing the title from "Tennent H. 'Pete' Bagley" to "Tennent H. Bagley". I originally chose the former only because the author of the article on Bagley's well-known/notorious bugbear, Yuri Nosenko, refers to Bagley that way in his article, and I thought that if I did the same, it would be easier for readers to find my article . . . or something like that.

Suggestions?

Thanks for your help, btw . . .

I've never done it, but I believe you can just do a move in draft. See WP:MOVE. You'll be autoconfirmed so should have the rights to do this. Martin of Sheffield (talk) 08:30, 11 April 2023 (UTC)Reply

language=en-US or language=en

edit

Please note (from template:citation): "The language in which the source is written, if not English; use the ISO 639 language code (preferred) or the full language name; do not use icons or templates". you do not need to keep adding "language=en-US" or "language=en", this is the English language Wikipedia and it is assumed that English is used throughout, unless specified otherwise. Reference clean-up

edit

I've been through ensuring nearly all references and citations are uniform in style. However three issues are outstanding which need someone with subject knowledge to resolve:

  1. "Anon 2023" - No citation for this reference.
  2. "Bagley 2014" - again no citation. Is this an error in the year?
  3. Website "public1.nhhcaws.local" returns "We can’t connect to the server at public1.nhhcaws.local".
