Talk:Temperance Brennan

Latest comment: 8 years ago by Lazyzee in topic Does anyone know what her middle name means?

This is a minor detail, but in Dr. Temperance "Tempe" Brennan, is it clear in the books that this is pronounced like "temp" ? As a American this is what I would guess, and that the final 'e' is simply to distinguish in writing the name from the word "temp." In other languages, and perhaps other dialects of English, the final 'e' would be pronounced. Maybe as "Temp-eh?" I think this is a legitimate question because the author, Kathy Reichs, lived and worked in Quebec, just like her character. Is there any indication in the books, or an interview with the author in which she actually pronounces the name? Tumacama (talk) 18:29, 4 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

In the seventh season finale of the television show, Brennan's father pronounces it like the city in Arizona. 21:17, 31 August 2012 (UTC)

Can we agree this one is a little short on references? edit

Does anyone know what her middle name means? edit

If you didn't see this in the article, her middle name is 'Daesee'. 21:17, 31 August 2012 (UTC)

It's her mother's family name, see "Bones never lie". Lazyzee (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 20:23, 6 November 2015 (UTC)Reply

"A Native of the Carolinas" edit

The first page of "Bones to Ashes" states that "as a little girl, I lived on Chicago's South Side..." and goes on to say that Tempe was seven when her widowed mother moved the family to South Carolina. So surely she is a native of Illinois rather than the Carolinas ? RGCorris (talk) 17:27, 30 January 2013 (UTC) "206 Bones" also confirms that she originates in Chicago, so I have amended the article accordingly. RGCorris (talk) 16:09, 14 February 2013 (UTC)Reply
