Comet edit

Can someone add some information as to where this comet is believed to have originated (Kuyper belt, etc) and its suspected age?

Tempel 1's moon called iota edit

Tempel 1 has a small moon called iota right?

infobox edit

Shouldn't this have an infobox? I mean, we might not know it's density as yet (which is the whole point of the mission), or stuff like that, but I mean, things like eccentricity et al might be useful. -- Natalinasmpf 4 July 2005 11:59 (UTC)

Origin edit

How do they know that Tempel 1's origin is the solar system? --Abdull 5 July 2005 14:59 (UTC)

While not certain, the probablility that an interstellar rogue comet body would 1) pass thru the solar system and 2) be captured by the sun's gravity and go into orbit are very small. HammerFilmFan (talk) 22:12, 18 February 2011 (UTC) HammerFilmFanReply

Discrepancy in dimensions edit

The sidebar "infobox" states dimensions are 7.6×4.9 km, but in the paragraph just below the sidebar it states 9P/Tempel is "believed to be 14 by 4 kilometers".Mvsmith (talk) 06:22, 8 February 2011 (UTC)Reply

Rotation period = 40.7 hours??? edit

What? This is a periodic Jupiter-family comet! — Preceding unsigned comment added by УмныйПёс (talkcontribs) 11:24, 12 February 2013 (UTC)Reply

40.7 hr Rotation period != 5.5 yr Orbital period -- Kheider (talk) 11:38, 12 February 2013 (UTC)Reply
