Region and municipality
editThe introduction of this article mentions Temagami as a region and municipality. From looking through the article it seems like the main topic discussed is the Municipality of Temagami, with the exception of Lady Evelyn-Smoothwater Provincial Park and features within the park (e.g. Maple Mountain and Ishpatina Ridge), which are outside the municipal boundaries. I have seen Lady Evelyn-Smoothwater Provincial Park and its features described as being in Temagami, but the content was not in reliable sources. As a result, I think it is probably best to remove such content. Volcanoguy 06:04, 29 August 2012 (UTC)
- Agree, the municipality should be the main focus of the article. While it only states that Temagami is the staging point to Lady Ev PP, it does give the wrong impression that Ishpatina is within the municipality. That should be corrected. But I also think it would be helpful to let readers know that the Temagami region encompasses more than just the municipality. A brief paragraph making the distinction clear should be sufficient. -- P 1 9 9 ✉ 14:06, 29 August 2012 (UTC)
- I just finished removing features not in Temagami's municipal boundaries. While I was going through the article I also realized that there were also a few lakes listed not in the Municipality of Temagami, including Smoothwater Lake and Lady Evelyn Lake, both of which are in Lady Evelyn-Smoothwater Provincial Park. But I kept James Lake, Rib Lake, Marten Lake, Anima Nipissing Lake, Obabika Lake and Rabbit Lake because they are at least partly within the municipality. Volcanoguy 23:37, 29 August 2012 (UTC)
- Correction: Lady Evelyn-Smoothwater Provincial Park is in fact in the Municipality of Temagami since part of the park is in Canton Township at Diamond Lake. Volcanoguy 13:37, 24 October 2015 (UTC)

Lakes in Temagami
editIt seems like Temagami could use a separate list of lakes like List of mines in Temagami. There are hundreds of lakes in the municipality. Volcanoguy 00:40, 30 August 2012 (UTC)
Township and Municipality of Temagami
editAccording to this map there is a big difference between the Municipality and the Township of Temagami. I'm wondering if there should be two different articles for them? Volcanoguy 13:43, 28 October 2013 (UTC)
- No, because the township is historic only and already mentioned in the article. Everything related to the township is now part of the (enlarged) municipality and therefore should be part of this article. -- P 1 9 9 ✉ 13:51, 28 October 2013 (UTC)

- I do not see anything in the article about the township. It focuses primarly on the municipality. Just because it's historic does not mean it should not have an article on its own. If that is the case why does Walden, Ontario have its own article even though it is now part of the Regional Municipality of Sudbury? Volcanoguy 15:28, 28 October 2013 (UTC)
- It is in the History section (in the "1968" and "1998" paragraphs). Walden wasn't always part of Sudbury, it had a long and separate history apart from Sudbury before it was amalgamated. But the Township of Temagami is the same as the municipality because it just changed status in 1998 (and was enlarged at the same time). -- P 1 9 9 ✉ 16:10, 28 October 2013 (UTC)
