RE "Telescope" Octopus
I believe that, upon closer inspection, the elongated appearance it will be found deceptive. The surface of the eyes is very close to the same level as the outer dermis. In fact if most other species could become transparent one would likely notice a very similar appearance to the eye structure below the skin.
