Wasn't Law also included in all eight installments of Tekken? According to: http://tekken.wikia.com/wiki/Marshall_Law, Law is there unless it's Forest Law, but their moves are pretty much the same. Ituhubert (talk) 23:00, 16 April 2013 (UTC)

Tekken 7?

I have no idea what you are talking about I see nothing on Tekken 7. Also people please quit changing the Arcade release date of Tekken 6 and Tekken 6:BR... Tekken 6 was released in Arcades in 2007 and BR was released in 2008. We can move the page to a parenthetical name if needed, but please do not copy-and-paste information to do so. You're running the risk of losing page history that way, something we need for compliance with the GFDL. Please see Wikipedia:Moving a page for some of the reasons why this is a bad idea. Yep, this is the overall article. The first game could live at the title Tekken (since that's what it's called, not Tekken 1, I don't think), or we could add the word series after Tekken for the overall article (either in parentheses or not). Rehauling the Character Pages

TekkenFan

Is there anyone who thinks the TekkenFan links should even be kept on the Tekken sites? First of all they've been spammed all over the place, not for good Tekken content, but for having match videos. Second of all, I finally went to the website myself and cannot find any content on this one site that all the other sites already listed don't have. The only real Tekken information it contains is about Tekken 5, and we already have the official website listed for that info. In my opinion the TekkenFan links should just be removed. Sorry if this is the wrong format, I am not too sure on what the syntax is here. This site is a personal site, but is in no way commercial. I pull maybe a quarter per month from banners, and if that ever gets to the 20 per month i pay for hosting, it will go towards the hosting.

So if you wanna call it anything it would be non-profit? Wanna talk about a commericial site? TekkenZaibatsu even gets donations to fill its pockets with the thousands of people that go there. The reason a majority of the content is tekken 5 is becuase the site has only been opened for 6 months. And those staple juggles(no other site has) and moves list for each character.

I restrict 95% of the site's content from guests(and add banners to guests) for an incentive to signup. The whole thing is free, and signup doesn't take more than 2 minutes. It doesn't even validate the email addres.

I actually dont see how you can say there is no content. . .I have spent SOOOOO much time adding content to that site.

You have the offical site listed? Namco doesn't put ANYthing on that site(except for news and new pictures), but no one in any Tekken community goes to that 'official' site.

I do concentrate on Tekken Videos because that is what the people want. I have cheap bandwidth, and want to spread as many tekken videos(none i made) to as many people wanting them as possible.

In the end, I'm a 23 year old kid, who can't afford the hundreds of dollars to advertise, and saw a good referral/signup rate from Wikipedia. I dunno who 'added the site to everything with 'tekken' in it', but all I have done is add TekkenFan.com to the list of external links under the 'tekken' page.

I apologize for any misunderstanding myself or any member of my site has caused, and hope you will add the link back to the external links list.

The problem isn't whether a link is commercial or personal. The list of external links section is for added information outside of what the official site offers. See Wikipedia:What_wikipedia_is_not#Wikipedia_is_not_a_mirror_or_a_repository_of_links.2C_images.2C_or_media_files. The Wikipedia is not for advertising. The reason the other links are already there is because they have been chosen for the information they contain, not because someone wants to advertise. Frankly, TekkenFan does not seem to add anything that the other links do not already provide. The external links section is already bloated and sometime soon, when I have enough time to carefully review the rest of the sites listed, I will attempt to trim it down. Another thing, restricting 95% of content from guests is a sure-fire way of not getting listed on the Wikipedia. It does not matter if the registration is free or not. TekkenZaibatsu may very well be a commercial site, but it contains a wealth of information about the Tekken series without requiring registration. The reason you also saw a good referral/signup rate is because you cannot do anything without registering. For example, in order to contact you I had to sign up. There was no other way around it. Therefore, I am now listed as another one of your users with another referral/signup. In my opinion it's a dirty tactic to inflate your site's numbers. The reason I made TekkenFan was to compete against TekkenZaibatsu. I am VERY anti-banners when it comes to visiting sites over and over(why fill my laptop with spyware, adware, and cookies). Also because of all the banners, it loads SUPER SLOW. I made TekkenFan because when you the people(signups, members, whatever) come to the site, besides what original(yea original) content I put on there, they MAKE the site. Why must I require them to pay me to remove banners, give access to videos, and everything they hide from non-paying members. It's sad, people already must pay 50 dollars for the game, why not have a free site that offers some competition. You also said you couldn't contact me without signing up. Incorrect, at the top of every page is 'contact us'. Viewable to both members, and guests. It was one of the first php scripts/plugins I made for the site. Like I said, I've worked for months adding content on the site, comparing other sites, and offering things no other sites do. I am tired of debating this. Do what you want, but a definate good way to turn people off from wikipedia. Be sure to keep that tekkenpedia link in there as well(sooo much content that others just dont have). Like I said, do what you want. I've stated my case.

There is no case. You can work for months on end regarding your site, and I appalaud that. But keep it out of encyclopediac articles. It is spam, and will be removed on sight. About adverts (And some history to make it educational)

Actually match video's are not everything, it's community. Many sites in the past have come out offering video's and closed down months later due to high bandwidth costs. Lets face it people want things for nothing, and are willing to get everything they can, this results in a lot of media transfer from people who don't care about the site they are getting it from. For a long time it was only TZ, AP and TC that were doing any form of large scale media production, with sites like EC having their moment in the spotlight then unfortunately dying. I realised that movies weren't everything, and were only fueling the fire that was my bandwidth cost and tried off loading them through Bittorrent and soon after TZ started doing it as well, but people still complained. I've had the media off the site for a while now but the next few weeks will see it _all_ coming back.

I worked for an internet advertising company dealing with banner deployment and other advertising like Google's AdSense, and lots of websites get it all wrong. One or sometimes two well placed adverts will do really well, where splashing them everywhere usually detracts from the site. This could be a case of members just doing the wrong thing and the admin copping all the blame, happens all the time, but it's still the admin's responsibility to keep their members inline. Your suggestion to stick the links in their signatures was a great suggestion, just someone took it a little too far. Also TZ has not only bandwidth to pay for but hardware maintenance, it's because of this maintenance that AP was created (TZ went down for 4 days back in 2001 while we were organising our first Brisbane tournament and we needed somewhere to keep organising).

When you have 1k+ (AP was at about 900$/m) bandwidth bills per month, that's when you will know how much that few dollars here and there from sponsors helps, it's not a get rich quick scheme, it's the fact that you are offering something for free and getting charged for it by your providers. Nothing in this world is free, didn't Wikipedia just have a fund raising effort?

The Namco fighting universe

I keep wondering if by any chance, Soul Calibur and Tekken take place on different time periods of the same planet Earth on the same universe?

In fact Yoshimitsu from Tekken is the leader of the Manji clan, while Yoshimitsu from Soul Calibur is the founder of that clan. Plus Heihachi in the PS2 version of Soul Calibur II comes from the future and not another universe.--82.89.160.110 (talk) 17:34, 13 November 2008 (UTC)

Tekken Series banner

Is there any way to edit the Tekken series banner at the bottom of the page? Tekken Tag Tournament is under the heading - Main Games when it should be in the same place as Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection as it was just an update to Tekken 3. It is not part of the series or Tekken 4 would have been the 5th game. The Main Games header should only include Tekken 1,2,3,4 and 5.

Mention in Popular Culture

I separated this section from the Appearances sectin because there's a distinct difference between Tekken clearly being represented outside of the video game medium, and having passing mention in popular culture like songs or television. Actually they're easy to do with approval voting. Anybody who wants to can list one they support, and anybody can vote for more than one. If one gets a clear consensus, the page goes there. Tekken to the 360?

I have doubts that the reports are substantial enough to have it mentioned in the Wikipedia article, but many sites are reporting that there is a possibility that Tekken will also be a titled for the Microsoft 360. Also, seeing how the arcade version of Tekken 6 will run on PS3 chips[1], it seems very unlikely that Tekken 6 will be released on the Xbox 360. Anyway, there were rumours that Tekken 5 would be on the Xbox, all of which turned out to be false. Michael Mad 17:12, 29 June 2007 (UTC)

Character Appearance Table

Firstly, I don't think the table should appear in the main article - it's bulky and takes up a load of space without displaying critical information; surely it should be on a character-related page?

Furthermore, I feel that it would like more presentable if the ticks and crosses were centered (both hor and vert) in columns.

I don't necessarily agree with your point of view on the matter, but I do agree on the fact that it's too bulky. Notes like (mentioned in Nina's prologue) are entirely unnecessary and clutter the table. I suggest that we either move notes to the bottom of the table, or we remove the notes completely. This article should be moved to Tekken

I think it would be a good idea to move this article to Tekken, and the current Tekken page (the page with the list) should be moved to Tekken (disambiguation), similar to the way it was done with Street Fighter and Street Fighter (disambiguation). King and Violet

Yes that is true. King I was in Tekken 1 and 2 while King II was in Tekken 3 and up. Also yeah Violet is just Lee's alternate costume and the identity he uses to get in to the fourth Iron Fist Tournament. -Notacka

Hey, it is not sure that Jin wins the sixth tournament 'couse his an evil character. Anyway we can discuss about the winner of the fourth tournament. It is always believed that is Jin, because he defeats everybody, but he is captured by the Tekken Force before the match with Kazuya and they then fight in Honmaru after the end of the tournament. I think the real winner should be the one who won the final match between Heihachi and Kazuya. Probably Kazuya won the match because his final movie is the closest to Jin's. the sponsor can't win a tournament because they always fight the winner. the champion is still the winner regardless of whether they beat the sponsor. the sponsors have been 1-Heihachi, 2-Kazuya, 3-5 Heihachi, 6-Jin. and for the record, Kazuya won Tekken 4, but lost to Heihachi (though in game he won, he lost in his prologue in Tekken 5). as for the final movies. AGE

If they would age, they would eventualy die, and if they die, that means two bad news for Namco:

• If most of the characters die, Namco will have to create new characters to replace the dead ones. They would have to come up with new looks, combos, story, and new abillities for the new caratcers, and that thing isn't as easy as it sounds.

• Tekken characters have many fans, and if the characters die, that would mean loosing the game's fans, which means there would be no one to buy the new games, and than Namco would fall apart.78.157.0.50 (talk) 11:19, 2 September 2009 (UTC)

• Tekken characters do age. Paul Pheonix is older as is Heiachi and Kazuya. Kazuya is almost 50 years old and many people have passed down their legacy to someone else i.e. King I -> King II, Marshall Law -> Forest Law, Michelle Chang-> Julia Chang. Also Nina Williams and Anna Williams were cryogenically frozen. -Notacka

Slight Fix Needed

I think the last line of the lead section "The series links with the Soul series as one of the characters is a relative of one in this series." is awkward-sounding, but I'm not quite sure whether to delete or modify it. Does anyone think it's necessary, since it is mentioned later on the article?

Mokujin's nationality?

Hello. I was redirected to this page when I was looking for a Tekken 7 article. When I looked at the cast of characters, I saw Mokujin with a Philippine flag. As I am a Filipino, I was very suprised, but soon realized that the page could have been edited. Mokujin has no nationality in the series, since he is just a wooden dummy. This is incorrect and should be fixed to a no nationality flag or question mark. Sallyboy44 (talk) 01:26, 17 July 2010 (UTC)

Flag problems

Oddly enough, the two above posts also propose the problem of random flags for characters. Mokujin is not from the Phillipines(even though the flag is now Uzbekistan) and Unknown is not from Bermuda. I also noticed that Nancy's flag is France. Unfortunately, all of those flags are incorrect to the storyline. They should be question mark flags.... The problem may be that the random flags keep redirecting to another flag, or someones just messing with us. Any thoughts? Sallyboy44 (talk) 01:31, 17 July 2010 (UTC)

Bold titles in the article

After the recent reverts I wish to reach a consensus here. The bold titles are just ridiculous in my opinion and over emphasise what can already be seen with italics. I have seen no where else making something bold on top of italicising. I am using other video game articles for reference, this is not my own view.

And I added the manual of style which states to use italics, doesn't mention bold. I never questioned your other editing. Nintendo Tekken

tekken Advance and Tekken 3D: Prime Editions are not direct ports in my opinion. They used the engine and also the character models for that, but they are really original games. Tekken Advance even has a different story. Blacklisted Links Found on the Main Page

Cyberbot II has detected that page contains external links that have either been globally or locally blacklisted. When requesting whitelisting, be sure to supply the link to be whitelisted and wrap the link in nowiki tags. The whitelisting process can take its time so once a request has been filled out, you may set the invisible parameter on the tag to true. Please be aware that the bot will replace removed tags, and will remove misplaced tags regularly.
